Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp have been hit with another outage that’s stopping users from logging in, viewing or posting pictures. Some are unable to access their accounts at all. It appears to be mostly affecting the UK, northern Europe, the east coast of the US and parts of South America. So, yeah, it’s a global thing. There’s been no official reason given for the outage and, as you would expect, the rage is real. Twitter, which proves stubbornly resolute against these kinds of outages is where a lot of people are able to vent their frustration.

According to the website Downdetector, which measures outages of popular sites across the web, the problems started at around 2pm this afternoon. The site breaks down the kinds of issues that users are experiencing. It says that 86% are unable to access the newsfeed and a lot of the comments are about being unable to post pictures. ‘Been trying to post for the last hour but it won’t post anything, keeps saying can’t be posted,’ wrote Instagram user Anna Kambouris. Others echoed the sentiment. ‘Ah, heck. Here we go again,’ another commentor moaned.
Facebook has put out a curt statement saying it’s aware of the issue. ‘We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble uploading images, videos and other files on our apps. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible,’ a company spokesperson said. So all we can suggest is you sit tight and ride it out. We’re sure those clever folk at Facebook will have everything sorted out in no time.
