Your computer and mobile device has a concept of a “default” web browser.
This is the browser which will open any time you click a link in another program. For example, if you’re using Outlook or Thunderbird to read your email, and you click a web link; your computer will open whatever it has set as the default browser, in order to view that web page.
When you have more than one browser installed on your computer, you can choose which browser you’d like to be the default.
To do that, you have to find and change that setting on your computer. We’ve made some guides with screenshots to show you how to do this.
Do you want to try a different browser?
Operating systems come with a default web browser installed – OSX/macOS comes with Safari, Windows comes with Edge (and formerly Internet Explorer). But those aren’t the only two web browsers you can use. There are many other browsers which have different features and different Pros and Cons.
It’s a good experience to try a different web browser; you might find one that you enjoy using more than your current browser.
